Truck Transmission Systems

Understanding truck transmission systems is relevant to all professionals as it may help you to drive the truck efficiently. Having a better understanding of the workings may also help you to understand what is going on in the event of a fault occurring, or if the vehicle gets stuck – and is therefore an important aspect of your professional knowledge.

Our objectives for the lesson will be to:
To give you a better understanding, we need to discuss a number of different components in the drive train. Firstly, what a basic drive train consists of, then we will talk about some of the more important components in turn, hopefully giving a basic understanding of their purpose and how they work, starting with the engine followed by the clutch then the gear box and propshaft before finishing up with the rear axle, differential and half shafts.
